It is a known fact that Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal was banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board in April 2020 for his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal. In the same line of reference, his brother and wicketkeeping batsman Kamran Akmal has made a statement. Kamran stated that he is ready to pay all the fine which has been imposed on his brother under corruption charges.

Umar has been suspended by the PCB for three years as he failed to report the spot-fixing approaches that were made to him the last year. The Pakistan Board recently rejected his request to reduce his fine amount (4.25 million) levied upon him by the Court of Arbitration.

Umar placed his request citing that his financial conditions are not good currently. After rejecting his request, PCB asked him to pay the full amount or else he won’t be allowed to take up the rehabilitation programme as per the anti-corruption code.

“I am willing to pay the fine for my brother. I request the PCB they can deduct the amount from any payments due to me for my PSL matches. The money should not be such a big issue. They can deduct from my fees and even Umar (Akmal) whenever he plays his money will also come through the PCB only,” said Kamran Akmal as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Though the Court of Arbitration for Sports reduced Umar’s ban to 12 months, they have stated him directly to pay the entire amount as a fine. However, Kamran has requested the PCB to show some mercy on his brother.
