I don't have the temperament, says Shahid Afridi on coaching Pakistan team

Shahid Afridi is all set to take part in the upcoming T10 League where he will feature for the Qalandars. He is currently enjoying playing the game and there is every possibility that he might take up the coaching duties of Pakistan or any other team in the future. However, when Afridi was asked about the same, he cleared that he doesn’t have the temperament to coach Pakistan team and is happy playing at the moment.

Afridi last played for Pakistan in 2018 and retired from the international arena. But the all-rounder has continued to grace his presence in the T20 leagues across the world. Even at the age of 44, he is fit and rather excited to participate in the T10 league for the newbies Qalandars.

As far as the coaching is concerned, Shahid Afridi clarified that he is focussed on playing at the moment and would be rather take up the coaching responsibility of the youngsters in the future instead of the national team.

“I don’t have the temperament to coach the national team. Moreover, I am fit as ever so my focus is on playing cricket right now and try and give my best for the team. I would be interested in coaching young boys under 18 and 19. It is that age they need coaching,” Afridi was quoted as saying by Times Now.

Pakistan will now embark on their new era under the head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and Shahid Afridi felt that the team’s performance will improve under him. “Pakistan’s performance in the World Cup was not what we expected but under the new coach we expect some changes,” he added. While speaking about the T10 League, the former Pakistan skipper seemed thrilled to take part in the competition and is looking forward to contributing to his team.

“I wouldn’t have been here if I cannot play in this format. I am fit and enjoying playing. I will give my best, sometimes I am successful, sometimes I am not,” Afridi signed off.
