Despite India gearing up to face Australia in a huge World Cup clash, the focus is completely not on it because of the storm created by MS Dhoni’s wicketkeeping gloves. The cricketing world is busy talking over the entire matter and the latest to give an opinion on it is a veteran spinner, Harbhajan Singh. The off-spinner feels that the Indian players will be focussing more on the game rather than thinking about Dhoni’s gloves.

Dhoni’s gloves had the logo of Indian Army’s dagger. The wicketkeeper-batsman donned gloves with Balidaan Insignia during India’s World Cup opener against South Africa. And although he received praise from all over the country, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday turned down the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) request to allow him to continue wearing the gloves for the remainder of the competition.

And just hours before India’s big clash against Australia, Harbhajan Singh has said the players will only be looking to play good cricket and not focus on any other matter.

“Obviously [players will be focussed], that’s something news channels are showing. I don’t think any player on Sunday will be thinking what MS is wearing on his gloves. They have a big game in front of them. If they win this one, then they will put out a statement that they are in it to win this Cup,” Harbhajan Singh told India Today.

Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, was asked about the same in the pre-match press conference and he was quick to downplay the matter. The dashing opener said that he has no idea about the entire episode before speaking going on to speak about the match.

The tweaker opines India will outmanoeuvre Australia

Harbhajan Singh also said that India will be the favourites to win against Australia. India have started their campaign with an impressive win over South Africa while Australia have beaten Afghanistan and West Indies thus far.

“Exciting game. Both the teams are top most teams in the competition. This is going to be a cracker of a game. I think India are slightly ahead. I don’t think there will be any changes in the playing XI. Weather is expected to be fine. I don’t think we have to make a lot of chances. We have the players who can adapt to any sort of situations. India will be good,” said Harbhajan.
