The first warm-up match between India A and England might have been only an official practice game, but the kind of crowd the Brabourne Stadium saw on the match turn into almost an official encounter. However, while skipper MS Dhoni was a central figure in all of this, the way he batted with Ambati Rayudu and Yuvraj Singh was evidence enough that the 35-year old still has a lot of fire left.

However, despite all of this, the man of the moment as far as the team was concerned was most certainly Rayudu. The 32-year-old made yet another case for himself in the ODI squad as he went ahead and smashed an impressive century.

The flamboyant batsman began by shedding a bit of light on the situation he batted in stating that it was quite a tough to bat on. “It was really tough. Six months out of the game is frustrating. Happy that I had a good knock. I was just hoping to react to the ball, not thinking too much. It’s very emotional. I personally feel he [Dhoni] is the best captain India has ever had. Very happy that I could score a hundred in his last game as captain.”

He went on to laud skipper MS Dhoni for his contribution to Indian cricket and termed him a legend. “He’s a living legend. I was just watching him, even today he was emotionless. As cool as ever. I’m teary eyed right now. Best part about Dhoni is that he keeps things simple. No panic. He helps youngsters and people like me to build our cricket.

Sam Billings, who was the star of the show went on to commend the performances of the England batsmen in the day. “It was a good start, we just want to win every game we play. It was a great start, everyone chipped in, good start to hopefully a good tour. We have come in with a fresh mind, many of them have come from Australia.

“We have played some fantastic one day cricket in the last year, looking forward to this series. Playing in the IPL really helped, once you get comfortable in these conditions, batting becomes easy. Buttler and Dawson helped me a lot. MS is a hero, not just in India, but everywhere else, looking forward to the next warm-up game.” Billings said.
