The newly appointed Director of Cricket Operations for the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who has just started commenting on StarSports for the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) this season, Mike Hesson said on Tuesday that Simon Katich was the “right man” to be the head coach of RCB.

Royal Challengers Bangalore fired their entire coaching staff earlier this week, headed by former World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten and Veteran fast bowler Ashish Nehra. RCB finished at the bottom of the IPL 2019 table and it was their second bottom of the table finish in the last three seasons. The Board of RCB may have taken a bold step to relieve the previous coaching staff and hand over the reins to Mike Hesson and Simon Katich, as a change was definitely needed.

Mike Hesson said in a press release issued by the Karnataka Premier League, “He (Simon Katich) was on the RCB radar for a while, and rightfully so because he’s very talented. He was part of our discussions too. I feel like RCB have gotten the right man for the job. We hope to put our best foot forward.”

“The key fact in any new place is to immerse yourself entirely in the experience, rather than trying to impose your views and the way you work. You need to be doing the adapting. It’s not the other way around,” he added his personal remark of hoping to see the things turn around for the IPL giants.

RCB managed to enter the IPL finals three times but failed to win the title. The last three seasons have been really down for them, and they’ll definitely need to forget about it because they haven’t made it into the playoffs.

Mike Hesson Congratulates Ravi Shashtri on retaining Team India head coach job

Mike Hesson, the former New Zealand head coach was snubbed by the BCCI as they wanted to re-appoint the incumbent Ravi Shashtri for the role of Indian head coach and he congratulated him, “I went through the process and I am happy with the process. I wish Ravi and the team best of luck,” quoted Hesson, who is in Mysuru doing commentary in the KPL.
