Sreesanth was one of the best Indian pacers until he got caught in the spot-fixing case during the 2013 IPL. The seamer is likely to return to competitive cricket in September after serving his ban. Recently, the muscular bowler sat down for a chat regarding his comeback, fitness and his time during the lockdown.
During the interview, the fast bowler was asked how is he spending his time during the lockdown. To this, Sreesanth gave an emotional reply stating he has been in a lockdown professionally for the past six and a half years ever since he was banned in 2013.
“See, everyone has been in lockdown for the last month or so, but I have been in lockdown when it comes to my profession for the last six-and-a-half years. I was only doing work related to movies, television and stuff, but when it comes to the game which I loved the most, it was taken away, it was not there with me”, the Kerala pacer said to the Rediff.
During his time away from cricket, the cricketer has acted in a few movies. He has previously also participated in a television reality show named Bigg Boss, where he was the runners-up.
Sreesanth came up with indoor facility for himself to play
The 37-year-old revealed that he made an indoor facility for himself as he was not allowed to play on the ground. He talked about making the indoor facility good enough as he wasn’t able to go out. “I was fortunate in one way because when I was not allowed on the ground, I came up with my own indoor facility at my home. I spent a lot of time at that time to make sure that my house has good facilities because going out was difficult for me at that time”, the Kothamangalam-born player added.
Sreesanth then went on to thank his family for supporting his through the difficult times. He also said he is happy that he can spend more time with his family now as from September he will back on the field. “So thanks to my mom, dad, my wife and kids and everybody for the support. I am happy to be at home now because I am getting to spend more time with my family because from September I will be playing”, he further said.
The ex-Rajasthan Royals bowler then explained what he does throughout the day. “I have been making music, doing a lot of training, practising, a bit of cooking, a lot of cleaning and a lot of eating. My wife has started yoga and meditation and my kids have enough space to run around and play.
“It is good to be busy throughout the day. I make sure I get eight hours of sleep, two hours in eating food if you take 4 to 5 meals in the day, six hours of training, three hours of skill and strength and mobility and then 2 to 3 hours of watching movies with the family and one hour of Playstation games every day”, Sreesanth concluded.
