Yuzvendra Chahal has steadily emerged to be the one the bedrocks of Indian bowling-unit in both One-day and Twenty20 International cricket, since making his debut for the national side in 2016.

Post India’s heartbreaking defeat against Pakistan at the 2017 Champions Trophy final, Indian think-tank and selectors decided to move on from the off-spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and give chance to the wrists in Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

The duo proved to be the cornerstone of many an Indian white-ball triumphs between August 2017-May 2019 until the Kohli-Shastri-led thinktank decided to break their pair in order to play a bowling all-rounder.

Since then, Chahal and Kuldeep have played alternatively, and while the latter form has taken a hit,  the same cannot be said about the Haryana leggie. One of the things that make Chahal special is his confidence; perhaps that also explains the reason for his success on a ground that is regarded as a deathbed for the bowlers– especially spinners– Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Yuzvendra Chahal is an avid soccer fan

Chahal is a colourful character. He bowls probably the most difficult (but the sexiest) art there is in cricket; hosts a chat show; dances in Tik Tok videos besides forming cult in social media, as far as memes are concerned.

Apart from all of these things, Chahal- like many other cricketers- is an avid soccer fan where his favourite team is Manchester United. Chahal recently gave an interview to playknox.com where he opened up on a lot of things ranging from his favourite social media platform to his last years’ visit to Old Trafford- the home base of Manchester United.

The interviewer asked: “Heard you are a big Manchester United fan. Considering your good friend Rohit Sharma is the brand ambassador of LaLiga, would you ever consider being a Man Utd ambassador?”

Chahal said that he would be more than delighted since he has been Man Utd’s support since his childhood. The 29-year-old leggie also reminisced about his last year’s visit to Old Trafford.

“Yes why not. I have been a Man Utd supporter since childhood and last year I got a chance to visit Old Trafford and I bought all the collectables from scarves to mugs and have decorated my room with it,” Chahal replied.
