Royal Challengers Bangalore’s batter Glenn Maxwell said that he has felt at home while playing for the Virat Kohli-led team in the 2021 Indian Premier League. The 32-year-old Maxwell started his IPL career in 2012 while playing for the Mumbai Indians and then plied his trade for the Kings XI Punjab, now Punjab Kings and the Delhi Daredevils, now Capitals.

Maxwell’s comments came after the Challengers defeated the Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets on Wednesday, September 29 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Maxwell’s unbeaten 30-ball 50, laced with six fours and a six, helped RCB chase down 150 with 17 balls to spare.

It’s just what we have created as a group, says Glenn Maxwell

“I have felt good since coming here, got myself into a nice routine at training and outside of training as well, I just feel like it is really clicking for me. Nice to perform in the middle, adapting to the situations in front of me,” Maxwell was quoted as saying after the game.

“I don’t think it’s too different from any other franchise. It’s just what we have created as a group. It is nice to have a bunch of guys doing different things and not relying on one certain player. Everyone is chipping in, and it has been a really enjoyable group so far,” he stated.

He also had words of praises for KS Bharat, who’s done well in the UAE leg of the IPL 2021 while mostly batting in the top order. In the previous game, Bharat scored  44 runs off 35 balls and was involved in a 69-run stand for the third wicket with Maxwell.

“I wouldn’t call it an experiment (when asked about the experiment with KS Bharat at no.3); he’s a genuine top-class batter, and the way he has gone about his innings is outstanding,” Maxwell added.

The Challengers, with the victory, secured their seventh win out of 11 games in IPL 2021 with a net run rate of -0.200. Maxwell is currently the leading run-scorer for RCB in the ongoing edition of the league, having scored 350 runs at an impressive average of 38.88 and a strike rate of 141.70.
