Known for his outspoken nature, former Pakistan pace spearhead, Shoaib Akhtar has hit back at Virender Sehwag for the ex-India opener’s comment on him. In an old video that is once again doing the rounds on social media, Sehwag had said that Akhtar praises India after retiring from the game only to make money. Sehwag had made the comment way back in 2016 when Akhtar used to commentate in India before the political relationship between the two countries further deteriorated.

And with the video once again becoming viral on social media, Akhtar decided to hit back at Sehwag. Taking a dig at the legendary batsman, Akhtar said that he has more money than the former Indian opener’s hair on his head. He also pointed out that he never shies away from criticizing India whenever they fail to do well on the field.

“I have more maal (money) than you have baal (hair) on your head. If you are not able to fathom that I have such high followers, then understand it. It has taken me 15 years to become Shoaib Akhtar. Yes, I have a huge fan following in India, but I criticized them when they did not play well in the first ODI against Australia,” Akhtar said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.

Akhtar, in fact, has been very vocal about India and Indian players in recent times. He recently lavished praise on the Men in Blue after their win over Australia in the three-match ODI series. India came back from 1-0 down to win the series 2-1. After the win, Akhtar had called Kohli “an exceptional leader” as he doesn’t give up easily.

‘Who does not praise India?’ – Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar further stated that he is not the only one from Pakistan who praises India. The former bowler mentioned the likes of Ramiz Raja, Shahid Afridi as he said that others praise India too since the Virat Kohli-led side is the best in the world. Akhtar then made it clear that his popularity has not come from YouTube but from playing cricket.

“Just tell me one Pakistan YouTuber who does not praise India when their team does well. Ramiz Raja, Shahid Afridi all praise the Indian side when they do well. Tell me one thing, isn’t it right that the Men in Blue are in fact the number one side in the world, isn’t it right that Kohli is the number one batsman in the world,” Akhtar said.

“I do not understand what is the problem people have when I am giving my opinion on matters related to cricket. I have played for Pakistan for 15 years, I am not famous for just doing the YouTube thing. I was the fastest bowler in the world,” he added.
