I have never seen Cheteshwar Pujara batting like the way he did on Day 3 against England: Ashish Nehra
Ashish Nehra also reckoned that if Pujara bats like the way he did on Day 3, then the world will witness a completely different version of India's No.3.
Cheteshwar Pujara blunted the England bowling attack and scored a classy 91* for the Indian side to keep England at bay on Day 3 of the third Test match between the two sides. Pujara’s classy knock helped India to finish Day 3 with their scoreboard reading 215/2.
And, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra has heaped praise on Pujara. Nehra stated that he has never seen Pujara bat the way he did in the second innings of the third Test. Stating that the right-hander displayed a positive mindset, Nehra opined that Pujara’s game was different.
The left-arm pacer further added that he hopes that Pujara was not under pressure regarding his performance, and the way he played was because of Pujara’s own thought process.
“The way Pujara batted today, I’ve never seen him doing something like that before. He had a positive mindset and his gameplay is completely different. I hope he wasn’t under any kind of pressure related to his performance. I believe, it was his own thought process that I’d play this way today,” said Nehra in a chat on Sony Sports.
Cheteshwar Pujara has achieved success with his batting style: Ashish Nehra
Ashish Nehra also stated that Pujara is a player who has played around 90 Test matches and scored over 6000 Test runs and has achieved success with his batting style. The 42-year-old Nehra also reckoned that if Pujara bats like the way he did on Day 3, then the world will witness a completely different version of India’s No.3.
“People say Pujara plays slow. It’s not about 5-10 Test matches. He has played around 90 games for India and has 6000 runs to his credit. You have achieved success with this batting style. Just leave what people are talking about, if he continues to play with the mindset he had today, you would witness a completely different Pujara,” concluded Nehra.
India still trails England by 139 runs in the second innings. Indian skipper Virat Kohli, and Pujara are currently involved in an unbeaten 99-run partnership and will resume batting on Day 4.
