'I look at Mahi Bhai and he understands my body language' - Yuzvendra Chahal heaps praise on MS Dhoni
Chahal, while heaping praise on Dhoni, has said that tips from the former skipper really work well in the team's favour.
MS Dhoni was inarguably one of the most influential players on the field. Be it his leadership skills, calm attitude, finishing skills or agile wicketkeeping– it’s not a secret that Dhoni played a vital role in the evolution of Indian cricket.
Having achieved so much success in all formats of the sport, Dhoni is regarded as one of the most successful skippers. The Ranchi stalwart, even after stepping down from the captaincy, has a lot to offer while being behind the stumps. He is often seen as Kohli’s go-to man when it comes to on-field suggestions. Moreover, Dhoni is many a time involved in giving crucial tips to bowlers.
India international Yuzvendra Chahal, while heaping praise on Dhoni, has said that tips from the former skipper really work well in the team’s favour. According to the leg-spinner, Dhoni, while being behind the stumps, understands his body language and resolves those issues.
“Mahi Bhai is one of the best and greatest India has produced. He has helped me and Kuldeep during matches. Some times, a batsman hits me for boundaries, and then he comes, puts his hands around my shoulder and says ‘isko googly daal, ye nahi khel payega’. Tips from him really works well in the team’s favour,” Chahal told the Times of India.
Dhoni is a problem solver for Kuldeep and me: Yuzvendra Chahal
“After 40 overs Virat bhaiya fields at the boundary and you need someone to teach you and guide you. Sometimes, I look at Mahi Bhai and he gets to know from my body language that I want to ask something or have some confusion. He comes to me and resolves those issues.
50 per cent of the problem he solves before I come on to bowl. The same happens with Kuldeep too. He (Dhoni) is a problem solver for Kuldeep and I,” Chahal added.
Despite being in the latter stage of his career, Dhoni is still considered as an integral part of the national side. The Ranchi stalwart, however, hasn’t braced the field since India’s 2019 World Cup oust. There have been many speculations over his international future but Dhoni still continues to remain silent over them.
The 39-year-old was all set to lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the thirteenth edition of the IPL. However, due to the postponement of the tournament amid COVID-19 pandemic, ardent Dhoni fans will have to wait a little more before they see the stalwart back in action.
