‘I love the energy he bowls with’ – Rashid Khan names Ravi Bishnoi among the spinners he enjoys watching

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has named Yuzvendra Chahal, Shadab Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, Ish Sodhi, Adam Zampa and Imran Tahir as the spinners he enjoys watching. Rashid, who also plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad, lauded Chahal for showing a lot of consistency, both while playing for India and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.

Chahal didn’t find a place in India’s T20 World Cup squad, raising a lot of eyebrows. Sodhi, Shadab and Zampa are currently taking part in warm-up games of the mega event before the Super 12 round start on October 23.

“One is Yuzvendra Chahal. He has been one of the most consistent performers for India as well as for RCB. Shadab [Khan] – love watching his bowling. Ish Sodhi is someone who has improved. Adam Zampa,” Rashid was quoted as saying in ESPNcricinfo’s Cricket Monthly.

Rashid, who’s also in the UAE for the World Cup, had words of praises for Bishnoi, who played for the Punjab Kings in the IPL. Albeit PBKS failed to qualify for the playoffs, the leggie caught the limelight, picking up 12 wickets from nine games at an economy rate of 6.38.

The Nangarhar-born Rashid mentioned that the youngster has grown leaps and bounds over the last 12 months or so. He was of the opinion that a bowler gains confidence if he/she bowls with a lot of energy.

“But the young guy I love watching is [Ravi] Bishnoi. He has improved so much [since the 2020 IPL]. We had a discussion last year during the IPL on bowling line and length. We met this year at the IPL as well and he told me straightaway: ‘I have worked on those things you told me and it is helping a lot.’

“I love the energy he bowls with. It’s something that gives you confidence. Most importantly, he is loving his bowling, he is enjoying it,” he stated.

Rashid also praised South Africa’s Imran Tahir for being able to deliver day in and day out even in his 40s. “And definitely, the one and only Imran Tahir. He is one of the best and that is why I mention him in the end,” Rashid added.
