The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is currently in Mumbai gearing up for the upcoming World Test Championship Final against New Zealand later this month. He and the whole team India, Men’s and Women’s, will be leaving for the UK on June 3. However, with the current travel restrictions due to COVID-19, BCCI made it a compulsion for the players to be in quarantine in Mumbai before travelling to England to avoid any positive cases.

During this period, Virat Kohli decided to interact with his fans on Instagram through ‘Ask me Anything’ feature. One of the fans wanted to know about the cricketer’s diet given his extreme fitness at the highest level. The Indian captain, in response, revealed that he has a lot of vegetables, some eggs, 2 cups of coffee, dal, quinoa, spinach and dosas in his diet.

While many were impressed to know about his controlled diet, a section of fans was bemused to know that Virat Kohli eats eggs despite being vegan. He had, in an interview last year, stated that Anushka Sharma, his wife, had helped him in turning vegetarian and the cricketer never claimed to have turned vegan.

Virat Kohli trolls the critics with a sarcastic tweet

Soon after Virat Kohli revealed his diet, it created a bit of controversy. Many questioned him for eating eggs despite being vegan. Kohli also took note of the criticism it seems and decided to troll everyone with a sarcastic response. He took to Twitter to let everyone know that the 32-year-old never claimed to have turned vegan and also clarified that he is a vegetarian. He also advised the critics to take a deep breathe and have their food if they wish to.

“I never claimed to be vegan. Always maintained I’m vegetarian. Take a deep breath and eat your Veggies (if you want),” Virat Kohli wrote in his tweet while responding to his critics.

This is for the first time in so many years that the Indian captain has paid heed to the criticism on social media. He generally ignores everything and focuses on his performances on the field. However, after this tweet he might go back into his zone again with a lot of cricket to be played in the near future.
