Pakistani talented pace bowler Mohammad Irfan has been in the news for all the wrong reasons in the recent times. He found his name floating around in the news for his alleged involvement in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot fixing scandal. The 2017 edition of the PSL was hit hard by the spot fixing news just after two days of its commencement.

Players like Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were summoned to Pakistan for their involvement in the scandal. Soon, the names of other players emerged and that included the one of Mohammad Irfan. Irfan was given a showcause notice by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Due to lack of evidence against Irfan, he continued to feature in the tournament.

However, he was later charged on the basis of his failure to report the concerned board about the approaches that were made to him. Now, the tall pacer has come out with a shout out to his fans. He posted a message on Twitter saying that he never ever corrupted the game of cricket. Before adding his points, he had a preface written as well. In his tweet, he wrote, “Just wanted to put up these points for my fans & cricket lovers. Prayers for everyone out there. #PakistanZindabad”.

Adding further, he admitted the offence that he had committed saying that he failed to report the authorities about the approaches and still regrets it. He reasoned out that it was the sad demise of his parents during the same time that had swept off all the thoughts from his mind. He proudly noted that he is a Pakistani and owes everything to his nation.

He wrote, “For my cricket fans, some people are trying to portray that I was involved in spot fixing. For Records and clarification, it’s important to understand that I never did spot fixing. I only failed to timely report the bookies offer to relevant authorities (code 2.4.4), for which I have sincerely apologized to my entire nation. It has also been proved that I did not delay things out of any ill intentions. One of the pertinent reasons behind this delay was the demise of both my parents in a short span of 4 months. I was just totally lost after their absence in my life.”

“Please know that Pakistan is my identity and whatever I am today is because of this country. I cannot even think about trading its pride for anything of this world. Thanks for your understanding. #PakistanZindabad,” Mohammad Irfan added further.
