Along with his exemplary leadership, agile wicketkeeping and batting forte, MS Dhoni was also known for his cool and composed approach on the field. It was a rare sight for any fan to see a frustrated or an enraged Dhoni during a match.

The former India skipper earned many accolades for his impressive captaincy stint with Team India. Dhoni is the only skipper to have won three major ICC trophies– T20 World Cup (2007), ODI World Cup (2011) and Champions Trophy (2013). Dhoni, who has been away from the sport now for a year, celebrated his birthday recently on July 7 and social media was flooded with wishes for ‘Captain Cool’.

Former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith also recently praised Dhoni’s calm and collected attitude and said that it is hard to find anyone in world cricket that didn’t get along with veteran wicketkeeper-batsman.

“I seriously doubt that you probably find anyone in world cricket that didn’t get on with MS. He went about his business. He was calm, he was collected,” Smith said on Star Sports show Cricket Connected.

Furthermore, Smith also shared his experience of interacting with former Indian skipper and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. Ganguly also celebrated his birthday recently on July 8, a day after Dhoni’s special day.

“And again, like Sanga(kkara), was to spend a fair amount of time with Dada in administration, we are having a number of conversations over the telephone. He’s always calm, approachable, always interested in a good conversation, so a lot of respect for both men.”

Kumar Sangakkara also reminisced his chat with MS Dhoni

Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara also had good words to say about Dhoni as well as Ganguly. He reminisced meeting Dhoni at his home in Colombo when the Ranchi stalwart, along with Yuvraj Singh, came for a meal. Talking about Sourav Ganguly, Sangakkara heaped praise on ‘Dada’ and revealed that he enjoys speaking with him about everything related to cricket.

“He (Dhoni) did come home in Colombo for a meal with Yuvraj (Singh) one night. We had a great chat. He was very approachable as a person,” said Sangakkara.

“I did get to know Dada quite well over the years. I really enjoyed speaking to Dada on everything, Test cricket…playing cricket, captaincy…I think Dada I got to know a lot more intimately,” added the former Sri Lanka skipper.
