Deepak Chahar, on Sunday, finally announced his arrival in international cricket with a sensational match-winning spell against Bangladesh in the third and final T20I. The right-arm pacer picked up a hat-trick and ended the game with sensational figures of 6 wickets for seven runs as India thumped Bangladesh by 30 runs to win the series 2-1.
Chahar became the first Indian to pick a hat-trick in Men’s T20Is. He is also the proud holder of the best bowling figures in men’s T20I history. Former Sri Lanka spinner Ajantha Mendis previously held the record for his 6 for 8 against Zimbabwe in September 2012. Chahar deservedly won the Man of the Match as well as Man of the Series awards.
The Rajasthan pacer has been drawing praise from all over for his sensational performance. His sister Malti Chahar also followed suit and posted a special message for his brother. Malti was also absolutely delighted with her brother’s top-class performance and took to Instagram to express her feelings as she praised the pacer. She also posted a video of the moment when Deepak got the hat-trick.
“So so so so so proud of you To the hat-trick and best figure 3.2-0-7-6 in international t20 OMG..I still have goosebumps @deepak_chahar9 love you brother more power to you #bleedblue #IndiaVsBangladesh #IndianCricketTeam”
Dream come true moment for Deepak Chahar
A delighted Deepak Chahar was struggling for words after his stunning bowling effort. Speaking at the end of the game, he said that had never thought of achieving such figures in the game. The pacer further said he was delighted to see his efforts finally paying off. Chahar has now more or less cemented his place in the team and looks set to play in the T20 World Cup if he continues in the same manner.
“I never thought of this, not even in my dreams. I have been trying to work hard since my childhood and my efforts have paid off. Rohit was planning to give me the crucial overs and the management wanted to do the same. I always focus on the next ball, I keep doing that, until I don’t complete my spell,”ย said Deepak Chahar.
