In the 21st match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, the Kolkata franchise had an upper hand by winning the game by 10 runs. Though Chennai looked great when they kicked off their batting, their middle order didn’t fetch anything good for the team, and the game ultimately slipped out of hand.
In the same match, KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy stated that he use to run to M.A. Chidambaram Stadium just to see MS Dhoni bat. Therefore, it was a special moment for him to perform his act in front of MSD last night. It became even special as Varun knocked out the CSK skipper at Abu Dhabi.
In a video uploaded by the Indian Premier League on social media, the Man of the Match, Rahul Tripathi, asked Chakravarthy about the same incident. Tripathi asked if the spinner had any pressure while bowling in front of the legendary batsman, and Varun said that he had to pinch himself to feel that everything was real.
“Yeah, yeah, because three years back, I used to come to the Chepauk stands and sit with the crowd, and I used to just come to see MS Dhoni batting. Now, I bowled against him; it was a surreal moment for me. After the match, I took a picture with Dhoni sir,” said Chakravarthy in the video.

Varun Chakravarthy had terrible IPL 2019
It was in the 17th over that the CSK skipper tried to play Varun’s delivery and ended up missing the ball that hit the stumps in no time. Dhoni was looking confident as he hit boundary over covers on the previous ball, but the spinner mustered up the courage to come up with a better ball and got successful in his intentions.
Chakravarthy had a terrible IPL 2019 season with KXIP as he featured in a single match and leaked 35 runs in three overs. However, in IPL 2020 season, he is trying to bring up the best on the table for his franchise. He is the leading wicket-taker for KKR as he has scalped four wickets in as many matches he played. He has maintained a decent economy of 7.93 till now.
