I want Suryakumar Yadav to play all six matches in Sri Lanka: VVS Laxman

India is going to play a white-ball series against Sri Lanka starting from July 13 that will consist of three ODIs and as many T20Is. As the mainstream team is on the tour to the UK, a younger squad under the guidance of Rahul Dravid is expected to shine in the island nation. Many players on the tour will get their due chances to cement their places in the national team. In the same light, former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman has backed a player to play all six games.

Laxman has stated Mumbai batter Suryakumar Yadav as his absolute favourite and wishes him to play all six games in Lanka. Laxman is quite impressed with Yadav and said that he carries a lot of confidence and class which he displayed on the very first ball on his debut T20I. To play such an impressive shot against a quality bowler like Jofra Archer takes a lot of courage, added the former cricketer.

“I was excited seeing the way Suryakumar Yadav batted at No.3. His first scoring shot in international cricket, that too against a quality fast bowler like Jofra Archer, shows the kind of confidence, the talent, and the skill he possesses – this is a great opportunity.

“I want him to play all six matches – 3 ODIs & 3 T20Is – because he is someone who can definitely walk into the T20 World Cup squad, as far as I am concerned. I want him to grow and gain the confidence of scoring runs, even at the international level,” Laxman said on Star Sports’ Game Plan.

Laxman went to talk about his ideal XI for the ODI series that should take the field against Sri Lanka on July 13. He chose Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan to open the side with SKY coming in at no.3. He chose Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar as his choice of pacers in the team.
