Yuvraj Singh’s stocks never raised as a T20 batsman in the last three years of his career. He played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rather MI picked him at the last moment in the auction ahead of the IPL 2019. But it was his stay with the KXIP which was forgettable for Yuvraj according to him.

He got to play only eight matches in the 2018 season of the T20 competition where he mustered only 65 runs in six innings at a mediocre average of 10.83. The left-handed batsman though didn’t like the way he was treated during his time with the franchise.

Yuvraj Singh, in an Instagram live chat with Nikhil Naz, claimed that the KXIP management never liked him. He also went on to say that they picked exactly the same players in 2019 auction which he had suggested and released him. Moreover, the southpaw also mentioned he literally wanted to run away from the team.

“I wanted to run away from Kings XI Punjab … the management didn’t like me there … they did nothing I asked them to do … and when I left they bought all the players I had been asking them to. I love Punjab but I did not like the running of the franchise,” he said.

Yuvraj Singh didn’t play many matches for MI too

When the MI picked Yuvraj Singh in the 2019 auction, many hoped that he will click with the team and make a comeback in the national side. But while the Rohit Sharma-led side won the title for the record fourth time, Yuvraj didn’t have much role to play apart from a solitary half-century which he scored.

The left-hander played only four matches during the tournament scoring only 98 runs with the best score of 53. He warmed the bench for the rest of the season and eventually retired from all forms of the game later during the World Cup. He also lamented the lack of communication from the selectors and has been taking a dig at them in various interviews as well.
