Team India has sealed the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand by winning the first three matches itself. They gunned down the total of 244 runs easily losing only three wickets and Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli slammed half-centuries again. The latter though has played his last match of the tour and it will be interesting to see who replaces him in the last couple of matches. However, the captain himself has hinted at Shubman Gill‘s debut now by praising the youngster.

Kohli, at the post-match presentation, conceded that he was in awe of Gill watching him bat in the nets. “I saw him bat in the nets and I was like wow I was not even ten per cent of that when I was 19,” he said. There is a possibility now that the 19-year-old will wear India shirt in the fourth ODI but who will replace him is the question as everyone is performing at the moment.

Kohli praises Hardik

Virat Kohli also praised Hardik Pandya who made his come back in this game. The all-rounder returned with the figures of 2/45 and also grabbed a sensational catch to send Kane Williamson packing.

“Hardik provides balance to the team. Today too he bowled good areas which showed he has worked on his skills. Good to have him back. He put his head down and focused on what he needed to do, you can tell from the way he bowled. He is someone who will make an important contribution overall. He is someone who provides a lot of balance to the team,” Kohli said in the press conference followed by the match.

Kohli will now return home now and will take rest as India are scheduled to play five more matches on the tour. There is no respite for the team as they will be facing Australia at home for five ODIs and a couple of T20Is before the IPL starts on March 23.
