'I was shocked' - Pankhuri Sharma recalls Krunal Pandya proposing her after IPL 2017 final in front of whole MI team

India cricketer Krunal Pandya came into the limelight due to the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI). Even his younger brother Hardik Pandya plays for the same franchise who also debuted for India at the highest level before Krunal. However, impressive performances in the IPL led to Krunal, an efficient all-rounder, also donning the India jersey in November 2018.

Time and again, the left-hander has performed for MI in tough situations and led them to victory. However, apart from the cricketing skills, there is a romantic side to him as well. His wife Pankhuri Sharma recently revealed the incident which left her shocked too as she had never thought of Krunal can be so romantic ever in his life.

Mumbai Indians won the 2017 edition of the IPL by defeating the Rising Pune Supergiant in a thrilling final. Krunal Pandya was awarded the Man of the Match in the final for his exceptional 47-run knock when the team was struggling. And after the final, he went on to propose Pankhuri in front of the whole team.

I was sure she would say yes: Krunal Pandya

“I still remember the crazy way in which Krunal proposed to me. It was the night after the IPL final in 2017 – not only did Mumbai Indians win the match, but Krunal was the ‘Man of the Match’. Hardik and I were sitting in Krunal’s room when he came into the room singing. I remember thinking that he seemed like he was in a great mood.

“Soon, many Mumbai Indians players followed him into the room. I still had no idea what was happening until he got me to stand up and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked because never in my life, I had thought Krunal would do something so romantic!” Pankhuri Sharma told while speaking to Cricbuzz.

When asked to Krunal Pandya about the moment, the left-arm spinner quipped that he was confident that Pankhuri won’t reject him. “Sometimes when you’re batting you just know where the bowler is going to bowl to you, and this was exactly like that. I was quite sure that she would say ‘yes’,” he said. Eventually, the adorable couple got hitched on later that year on December 27 and are living together happily.
