The COVID-19 pandemic has been a blessing in disguise for cricketers who are constantly away from their families. The coronavirus situation has forced the players to spend time with their families in the absence of cricketing action. Amid these trying times, many players have also utilized their idle time by hosting Instagram Live sessions or conducting Twitter Q&A sessions.

Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik has also been busy hosting Instagram Live sessions these days. His recent guest was Pakistan’s newly-appointed ODI skipper Babar Azam. The Pakistan stalwart had a candid chat with Malik a few days before departing to England for the much-awaited tour.

During the chat, Malik trapped Babar by asking him a hilarious question. Malik asked Babar to pick his ‘favourite bhabhi’. In response, 25-year-old Babar picked Sarfaraz Ahmed’s wife as his ‘favourite bhabhi’, which resulted in Sania Mirza giving him a ‘threat’.

The reply of Pakistan’s ace batsman irked Shoaib Malik’s wife Sania, who responded in the chat by saying, “I will kill you.” Furthermore, Sania also commented that she wouldn’t let Babar sleep on their couch anymore.

Shoaib Malik will not be a part of England tour

Like many other players, Malik has also notched up his social media activity amid the pandemic. He has been away from the ODI squad for a long time as his last 50-overs appearance for Pakistan came in the match against India in 2019 World Cup.

Since then, many speculations have surfaced over Malik’s international future. 38-year-old Malik will not be travelling with the national side to England tour as he has been given permission to meet his wife and son.

“Unlike the rest of us, Shoaib Malik has not seen his immediate family for nearly five months due to his commitments and the subsequent international travel bans following the COVID-19 pandemic. As travel restrictions are now slowly easing out and there is an opportunity for a family reunion, it is appropriate that at a human level we show compassion as part of our duty of care and respect Shoaib’s request,” PCB had said in a statement last week.

In a career spanning over 35 Tests, 287 ODIs and 113 T20Is, Malik has amassed over 10,000 international runs while donning the Pakistan jersey.
