Kings XI Punjab have had a dismal run so far in the on-going IPL 2020. The KL Rahul-led side, on Saturday, suffered their sixth loss in seven games after failing to hunt down 165-run target against Kolkata Knight Riders.
The Punjab side was 115 for no loss in the 15th over before they suffered a batting debacle, resulting in the game slipping off their hands. KXIP’s batting force shattered in the next five overs. It all boiled down to KXIP needing 12 runs from the last five deliveries. Sunil Narine, however, succeeded in restricting KXIP only to 162. Glenn Maxwell managed to hit a four when Punjab needed 7 to win from the last delivery.
Rahul’s troops have been unfortunate this season, having suffered multiple narrow defeats in their IPL 2020 campaign so far. Bottom-placed KXIP will be hoping to turn the tide and clinch a couple of consolidation victories.
I am The Universe Boss and that’ll never change: Chris Gayle
Amid their lacklustre batting display, fans have been asking KXIP team management to slot Chris Gayle in the line-up. The Caribbean giant was going to play against Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier this week. However, KXIP head coach Anil Kumble had revealed that Gayle wasn’t included in the Playing XI due to food poisoning.
“Chris Gayle was going to play today’s match but he’s sick. He’s down with food poisoning that’s why he isn’t in playing eleven,” Anil Kumble had told the commentators during the clash against SRH.
The explosive opener could’ve played against KKR the other day but he has been hospitalized due to food poisoning. A couple of hours after the game ended, Gayle took to Instagram to reveal that he was in the hospital.
“I can tell you this!!! I will never go down without a fight!! I Am The #UniverseBoss – That will never change!! You can learn from me…but it’s not everything I do you should follow!! Don’t forget my style and flare too!! #LivingDiLife #Always Thanks for all your concerns peeps, much appreciated (I really was on a phone call)” wrote Gayle along with posting a picture of himself lying on the hospital bed.
