After a dismal IPL 2022 season with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj is hopeful of making a successful turnaround during India’s tour of England. Siraj’s IPL season this year ended with only nine wickets from 15 matches at a poor economy of 10.08. He had an economy of 6.78 in the previous edition of the IPL, which shows a significant downfall in his performance.

Of all the bowlers in the league, he was the one who conceded the most number of sixes, accounting for 31. But RCB kept backing him throughout the tournament and gave him the space to improve, even after he conceded multiple boundaries and numerous runs in some particular matches.

Meanwhile, Siraj’s latest comments came during the trailer launch of Voot Select’s upcoming documentary web series ‘Bandon Mein Tha Dum’ based on India’s historic victory in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020/21 against Australia.

“This season the IPL was a bit down. The last two seasons my graph was up and this time it has come down. But then I see what I have done in the past two years and take that along. This year was a bad phase for me but I will make a strong comeback by working hard. I will work on my ability, and believe in my strengths,” he was quoted as saying by India Today.

Siraj was one of the standout performers in the iconic Test series in Australia. After India’s disastrous show in the first Test match, the team bounced back to level the series 1-1 by winning the second Test. After the third match ended in a draw, the fourth and final game was an important one for both the teams to clinch the series victory. Siraj’s brilliant five-wicket haul in Australia’s second innings helped India to put up a brilliant fight and thereby win the series by 2-1.

England Test is very important for us and we are leading 2-1: Siraj

Siraj will now be touring England with the team for the fifth and final Test of the series that had commenced last year. The last match of the Pataudi Trophy 2021/22 series was postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the camp and was rescheduled for July 1, 2022. The Hyderabad pacer believes that the final game will be of utmost importance keeping in mind the Word Test Championship scenario.

“My preparations are going well for the Test. There in England, the Dukes ball is used, it is always good to bowl there in the English conditions and it is helpful for the bowlers. This Test is very important for us and we are leading 2-1. It is good that the Test has been rescheduled and we are confident (of doing well) as we have the lead, it is a good feeling,” he added.
