I wish more cricket comes to Pakistan says Marlon Samuels
Pakistan have not played international cricket at home for about eight years now. It has been a long time as ICC had termed it “not safe” after the militants attacked Sri Lankan cricket team.
However, things have changed drastically now. After successfully hosting the Pakistan Super League final, Pakistan are trying hard to get international teams to tour their country.
The 36-year-old Jamaican Marlon Samuels also said that he is a Pakistani at heart in an emotional video message. “I have spent a lot of time with Pakistanis in Jamaica they all are my friends. So, I am Pakistani in my heart. So, it didn’t take much for me to decide to come to Pakistan,” said Samuels.
“ICC, you need to look into cricket going back to Pakistan. Because there is so much Pakistanis waiting and would love to see a lot of cricketers in front of them,” Samuels said in a short video which was uploaded by Geo TV.
Marlon Samuels who was the part of the champions Peshawar Zalmi has urged International Cricket Council (ICC) to bring cricket back to Pakistan. Samuels thanked the army officials from Pakistan for providing excellent security for the finals. “I want to take this opportunity to say thank you Pakistan Army for the way they dealt with the things, security was top class, we couldn’t have asked for better security,” Samuels said.
Marlon revealed that it was not only cricket but also the smiles on the faces of the cricket fans in Pakistan that brought him to Pakistan. He said, “For me, it more than just me coming to Pakistan and play a cricket game. It’s the significance of the team and success of the team, and smile at the face of people.”
He also wished for cricket to win in Pakistan and hoped for the fans to keep smiling. He said: “And may this win, and cricket like the finals that came to Pakistan put a lot of smiles and make the people happy. And I wish that more cricket come to Pakistan. I will definitely come back to Pakistan.”
The West Indian is a soldier back home and says that he wouldn’t mind joining the Pakistani army. “I wouldn’t mind coming back to Pakistan if I get a metallic badge at my shoulder cause in Jamaica I am a soldier and that’s why I wore my army suit to Pakistan,” Samuels was quoted saying.
