I wish Virat Kohli was my captain: Sreesanth

Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth is currently finishing his seven-year ban that will end in the upcoming month of September. There is no doubt over the fact that he was a brilliant bowler but his controversies overlapped his cricketing career. However, now, he has shown his eagerness to hit back on the ground once his sentence gets over.

With the whole world suffering from Coronavirus pandemic, cricketers around the world are taking their time to interact with fans via various social media platforms. Sreesanth also used the opportunity to discuss a few things in Indian cricket.

During the live interactive session with Sportskeeda, Sreesanth said that there is a hell lot of difference in current Team India and those of the past. He feels that the change in work ethics has certainly gone into the favor of the national team. As per him, all the credits should be given to Virat Kohli, who led as an example for the other players from the fitness front. He added that currently not only bowlers but batsmen are also extremely fit.

Your skills don’t matter if you are not fit: Sreesanth

The Kerala-born pacer said that the fitness of the players is highly in focus. If anyone is unfit then they are sidelined from the selection. According to him, the talent of any cricketer is of no use if they are physically unfit to play full-length matches.

“I think the work ethics have improved a whole lot thanks to Bharat Arun, the bowling coach. hats off to Virat Kohli for leading from the front in fitness. I think it’s not just the fast bowlers who are fit, even the batsmen are fit. It’s so important for every individual to be fit and if you’re not fit, you’re not in the team. That is brilliant. Your skills don’t matter if you don’t have the fitness levels needed,” Sreesanth told Sportskeeda.

Indian bowler, who made his international debut under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid admitted the fact that he would have loved to play under the captaincy of Virat Kohli in international cricket, “I wish he (Virat Kohli) was my captain,” he added.
