Pakistan is in a strong position at stumps on Day -3 as England trail by 126 runs with 6 wickets remaining in the 2nd innings. Younis Khan was the star player for Pakistan with the bat as the veteran went on to register his 6th double century in Tests. Later in the day, Yasir Shah shone with the ball as he picked 3 crucial wickets to give Pakistan further lead in the day.

Speaking about his double century, Younis said he worked in the nets to improve his batting with both the coaches, “As a senior player, there’s a lot of expections and I knew I had to do something. I worked hard with my coach Mickey Arthur and batting coach Grant Flower and it’s worked out well. I worked on my balance at the crease, stood a bit tall and stayed stable in the middle.”

After reaching his 150, Younis equaled the record of most 150-plus scores after the age of 35 with the likes of Don Bradman, Brian Lara and Graham Gooch. “It’s an honour and privilege to be in the same list as Bradman,Lara & Gooch to have five 150-plus scores after the age of 35,” the 38-year-old added.

It’s a well known fact that Pakistan is quite unpredictable when it comes to the game of cricket, “Pakistan have always been unpredictable and this is why people love us and have supported us.  My family, friends, followers and fans have always backed me to do well and it’s a bit of luck too.” said Younis Khan.

“If we can win this tomorrow 14th August it would be very special for us all as it’s our independence day. There’s a lot of talk about me retiring but I don’t know when it is yet. I’ve always worked hard and kept myself fit. I urge all our supporters/ fans to come out tomorrow with the flags and support us to the last ball.” concluded Younis Khan.

Pakistan will surely look to finish the game on Day 4 as they need 6 more England wickets for the historic win at The Oval. This victory will also ensure that they draw the series 2-2 and further rise in the rankings. Whereas England need a massive fight back to win or save this game.
