I would love to be in quarantine with Quinton de Kock: Dale Steyn

With the outbreak of COVID-19, the world has come to an indefinite pause. The spreading of the virus has forced many cricketing bodies to cancel their matches. The players are getting affected by the sudden stoppage of the sport. But, some cricketers are actually enjoying their time off the field.

Dale Steyn, the South African pacer in a recent interview talked about the situations in the wake of coronavirus threat. Steyn was playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 when the outbreak of the virus became a bit serious. The tournament was cancelled midway and the players had to stay inside their hotel rooms. The move ensured that the players stayed safe from the massive outburst of the contagious virus.

Upon his arrival in South Africa, Dale Steyn decided to go back home and spend some time there. The fast bowler will also fly to India if and when the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 starts. In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, when the Protea pacer was asked with whom he would like to stay in quarantine, he chose his captain. The South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock took over the role of ODI and T20I captaincy recently and has done his job well so far.

Dale Steyn also recalled the time when he visited De Kock’s room

Dale Steyn recalls the times he visited de Kock’s room and found him doing something always. He reveals that his captain mostly likes doing two things, watching fishing videos or watching a cooking video. Steyn then goes on to say that if he shares a quarantine time with De Kock, it would be fun. He says, in that case, he would be watching cooking videos while his skipper will cook. He also revealed that Quinton is a good cook.

“I would love to be in quarantine with someone like Quinny de Kock. He is one of my favourite people in the world. If you walk into his hotel room, he’s either making flies for fishing or he is watching a fishing video or he is watching a cooking video. And when you are at his house, he’s doing the same stuff.

“I hate cooking, so it would be great if he was. Because then I could watch all the fishing videos that he’s watching, I could help him do all the tying, and he could cook all the food. He’s a proper cook,” Steyn said.
