There have been multiple scenarios in the international cricket world when a batsman ends up losing his wicket against a certain bowler. When a bowler is successful on various occasions in scalping a wicket of a particular batsman, it is called ‘bunny’, and the term is referred to a bowler of the team and not a batsman. In the same scenario, former Pakistan spinner made former South African captain Faf du Plessis ‘bunny’ for as many as four times in the international circuit.
The Proteas team is now on Pakistan soil after too long, and Du Plessis has already stated that he is excited to play his first Test in that nation. In the same light, the South African cricketer has opened up on how he used to see Ajmal bowling to him during his sleep time also. Such was the terror of Ajmal back in those times that Du Plessis used to visualize him even while he wasn’t unconscious.
“I remember very well that every time I went out to bat Saeed Ajmal was warming up. Sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night, and he would be bowling at me,” said Du Plessis in a press conference as quoted by bdcrictime.
Faf du Plessis opens on his Saeed Ajmal terror in UAE
Du Plessis suffered the spin attack of Ajmal big time in the UAE and still remembers those days. Speaking in the same scenario, he added that 13 years ago, they thought not to look much into the game and were prepared for anything and everything to happen. Wickets were more like subcontinent wickets, and that is why it pushed up the game of spinners.
“It was 13 years ago, so you try not to read too much into it. We’ve tried to prepare for everything and anything. I think the wickets will be a bit more like subcontinent wickets that they used to be, so the spinners will probably be more in the game.” He added.
The bilateral series between Pakistan and South Africa would commence on January 26 in Karachi. The second Test of the series will be staged in Rawalpindi and will be followed by a three-match T20I series.
