Looks like, a remark made during an awkward interview has now resulted in an overblown reaction against West Indies batting star Chris Gayle. Chris landed in a soup just a few days ago when he tried to exchange some cheesy lines with Channel 10 anchor Mel McLaughlin in during the sideline interview during the Big Bash League match between Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes.

The behavior was termed as “unprofessional” and “inappropriate” by current and former cricketers. And, it seems that the matter is just intensifying day by day as, former Australian cricketer Ian Chappell has now asked Cricket Australia (CA) to propose a worldwide contracting ban on the big-hitting West Indian.

Chappell said CA needs to show zero-tolerance towards the “totally inappropriate” behaviour. “I wouldn’t have a problem if Cricket Australia said to the clubs, ‘he’s never to be contracted again in this country’, Chappell was quoted as saying by the Australian Associated Press

“And I also wouldn’t have a problem if Cricket Australia said to the ICC, ‘what we’re doing should be worldwide’.”You’d have to talk to the individual countries then… but I wouldn’t have a problem if it was tabled at an ICC meeting that Cricket Australia said, ‘this is what we’re doing and we would recommend that everybody else do the same’,” he said. “How are you going to stop it otherwise?” Chappell questioned.

Chris Gayle’s was fined $10,000 for his behaviour. However, things are still boiling hot for him as his hope of playing the next season could be over after it was reported that CA was seriously considering banning him and blocking teams from signing the Jamaican.
