Indian skipper Virat Kohli and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah have managed to retain their top spots in the latest ICC ODI Player Rankings. Although, Men in Blue have not been involved in any of the ODI series since August, then also the premium players’ ranking went unaffected in the recent update.
Kohli is ranked as the number one batsman in ODIs with 895 rating points. He is well followed by his fellow teammate Rohit Sharma with 863 ratings, who is playing brilliantly across all the formats. And, keeping these two batsmen aside, there is no other batter from Team India in the top-10. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan’s rank declined to 19th position. Steve Smith, the former Aussie skipper improved his points and moved up to the 26th position in the table with 636 rating points.
Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya retain their spots in respective categories
Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently recovering from his stress fracture, leads all the way to the top with 797 rating points. The second bowler on the list is Kiwi pacer, Trent Boult with 740 points under his name. Also, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the Afghanistan spinner grabs the third spot replacing South African speedster Kagiso Rabada, who dropped to the fourth spot in the ODI ranking for bowlers.
In all-rounders’ rankings, Hardik Pandya is the only Indian player, who is in the top 10 with 246 points. However, Ben Stokes continued his domination being the number one all-rounder across the globe with 319 points. Also, his fellow teammate Chris Woakes climbed up to the fourth spot with 267 points. However, Afghanistan all-rounder, Rashid Khan in the latest update went to the fifth position.
Now, Team India will play the next 50-over series in December when they will host a three-match series against West Indies. It will be a chance for the Indian skipper to consolidate his position in the ODI rankings and end this year at the top.
But, the same cannot be said for Bumrah and Hardik, who are still recovering from their injuries.
