England was the host nation. India was placed in Group C alongside Pakistan and Kenya.
Match 1 against Kenya- India was handed over the bat by Kenya. Ganguly again played a captain’s knock of 90 as India managed to score 290 runs. It was too big a task for Kenya, as they lost the match by 98 runs. Harbhajan Singh picked up 3 wickets
Match 2 against Pakistan- Inzamam-ul-Haq decided to field first. India’s batting collapsed as they were bowled out for 200 runs. Dravid scored 67 while Agarkar scored 47. Pakistan lost 3 wickets early, but skipper along with Yousuf Youhana formed a solid partnership. After Inzamam’s dismissal, Afridi gave a good support to Youhana, who took Pakistan to the semis.
