After many months of being banned courtesy of their illegal action, Bangladesh duo Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny have been cleared of their bowling actions. They will be raring to go as their primary aim will most certainly be to make it back to the international cricketing arena after several months away from the scene.
Both players were reported for illegal action during the 2016 edition of the World T20. Having played and made it through the group stages of the premier T20 international tournament, Bangladesh crashed out after suffering losses in the Super 10s, the playoffs which did not feature Taskin as well as Arafat Sunny.
Heath Streak, the bowling coach at the time worked with Taskin Ahmed during the difficult period in a bid to correct his action. However, since then, the 21-year old has been working with several bowling specialists as well as analysts to correct his flawed action. It can only be assumed that Arafat Sunny also worked alongside the specialists.
While Arafat Sunny has been somewhat on the fringes of the Bangladesh first team, Taskin Ahmed has been a prominent figure in the new wave of quality Bangladeshi pacers. Of course, Bangladeshi cricket has seen its fair share of legendary bowlers in the form of Mohammad Rafique and Khaled MashUd.
However, this wave boasts of some terrific players in the form of Al-Amin Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, and now Taskin Ahmed. However, whether the Bangladesh Cricket Board will be able to keep these players fit in a packed international schedule remains to be seen.
Moreover, cricketing representatives in the world are throwing large sums of money at 21-year old Mustafizur Rahman who has captured the imagination of one and all with some splendid bowling performances in recent times. It can only be assumed that Taskin Ahmed will reach to the levels expected by the BCB in the near future.
