ICC comes up with a congratulatory statement for AB de Villiers
“AB is undoubtedly one of cricket’s great entertainers and a genuinely special and instinctive talent," the ICC said in a statement.
The cricket fraternity could not believe that one of the best batsman of the generation called it quits from all forms of the game in such a sudden manner. Former South African skipper AB de Villiers decided to big adieu to the international cricket on May 23, 2018. The cricket world started pouring him with messages. While most were shocked to see him make an exit, there were a few who respected his call and hoped for his personal welfare. Now, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has also come up with their say on the matter.
The official website of the ICC saw a media release posted with the title “Thank you, AB!”. The Chief Executive of the council remarked that AB de Villiers has been a special talent. He thanked the South African for all the lovely memories on behalf of the ICC.
“AB is undoubtedly one of cricket’s great entertainers and a genuinely special and instinctive talent. Time and time again he has left cricket fans around the world marveling at his feats with the bat and in the field. International cricket will sorely miss him,” ICC Chief Executive David Richardson quoted.
“His outstanding international record reflects the kind of dominance he has had over bowlers and I thank him on behalf of the ICC for a fine career and an outstanding contribution to cricket and wish him all the best for the future,” he added further.
Illustrious career
