The World is celebrating Halloween day today as it is an annual holiday on October 31 every year. It originated with the ancient Celtic festival when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Halloween is the evening before Christian holy days of All Hallows’ Day which is celebrated on November 1 and All Souls’ day on the next day. Meanwhile, even the International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken the opportunity to enjoy the day and has picked the best World Cup Halloween XI.

The team consists of the players of all the generation with a few Women cricketers in it as well. A total of four Indian cricketers (2 men and 2 women) have been included in the team and certainly, this team possesses the capability of beating any team in the fraternity on any given day.

Players’ names tweaked

Interestingly, all the player’s name has been tweaked as the official Twitter handle came up with a unique idea. Sourav Ganguly and Graeme Smith will form the most dangerous opening partnership who have been named as ‘Sourav Ganghouly’ and ‘Grim Smith’ respectively. As far as the women cricketers are considered, South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt, India’s Jhulan Goswami and Shikha Pandey have made it to the team.

The middle-order, apart from Laura, consists of Joe Root and the legendary Jacques Kallis with the likes of Kapil Dev, Shahid Afridi and Cameron White following them. In the bowling department, Dale Steyn has made it and he will be assisted by Jhulan and Shikha.

However, some of the names have been superbly tweaked on the occasion of Halloween by the apex cricket board. While Kapil Dev has been changed to Kapil Devil, Afridi has become Shahid Afraidi. Similarly, Shikha Pandey’s name has a tongue-twisted to Shriek-a Pandey and like Ganguly, Jhulan has changed to Ghoulan Goswami hilariously.
