The International Cricket Council (ICC) has always batted for the sportsmanship among the players on the field. They have always made it a point that camaraderie between the players of the two teams is of paramount importance. This ideology is popularly known as the ‘Spirit of Cricket’. Recently, the official social media handle of the ICC shared a video clip of one such ‘Spirit of Cricket’.
As the calendar year of 2017 comes to an end, the ICC has been sharing the best moments from the game of cricket that perspired this year. Much to the delight of the cricket fans, the moment that has been termed as the best cricketing moment by the international board involved arch rivals India and Pakistan. The video is from the Champions Trophy final that was held in June this year.
Team Pakistan scripted history by defeating the much fancied Indian team in the finals of the mega event. They were propelled to a huge total after batting first in the match. This was largely due to the herculean ton from opener Fakhar Zaman. Later in the game, the Indian run chase was dented by the bowling might of Mohammad Amir.
Amir ran through the Indian top order to set the base for the Pakistan’s historic win. After the conclusion of the game, it was expected that the players of the two sides would be hard-mouthed against one another. But, during the presentations, players from the two sides were seen sharing laughter and some candid moments.
By the look of things, it did not appear at all that the situation at the ground was tense. The kind of political tensions that has been brewing up between the two teams, and the fierce rivalry they have had on the field, only indicated for other visuals. But this, truly seems to be the Spirit of the Game.
