ICC trolls Indian fan for comment on Pakistan’s Champions Trophy win
ICC gave the fan a reflection from the mirror.
The Champions Trophy 2017 concluded on June 18 with Asian heavyweights Pakistan lifting the title at The Kennington Oval. It was the mother of all battles an India vs Pakistan final. While the expected outcome was in favour of the Men in Blue, Sarfraz Ahmed & Co. stunned them on the night that mattered the most. More than a month after it an Indian fan tried to make fun of his Pakistani counterparts and the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) social media handler showed him the mirror.
Both India, as well as their neighbours Pakistan, are two cricket crazy countries where the fans treat the cricketers as a lot more than just players and a win against the arch-rivals means the world more than just another win in a cricket match. The Indian team was the hot favourite entering the tournament as well as the final. Whereas Pakistan made a sleek entry in the final qualifying as the 8th ranked team.
When the two teams met in their tournament opener Team India trounced them hard and that was expected to be the tone of the tournament. While Virat Kohli and his boys were handed over a defeat by the Sri Lankans after which they beat South Africa and Bangladesh to make it to the finals. Pakistan, on the other hand, had a tougher road, they held on to a win by the teeth against Sri Lanka then trumped the Proteas.
Their semi-final meeting was with the red hot favourites England who were scripted to win the tournament but it was an anti-climax as the Pakistani boys were just better than their counterparts on the night and the Brits didn’t have a chance in the game.
It was a pretty similar story in the final as the Men in Green first scored 360 runs and then absolutely mascaraed the Indian batters in their attempt to overhaul the total. They won the game by a huge 180 runs and for the journey, they made to lift the title, this win had to be celebrated, remembered and mentioned for a long time.
ICC’s Facebook post
Now on a Facebook from the ICC page post about an art a fan had brought in for England allrounder Moeen Ali an Indian fan commented poking at the Pakistan followers, he wrote: “Breaking News: Pakistani still celebrating CT 2017 win.”
The ICC executive who looks after the handle had a pretty and witty reply for him, they posted an image of Sarfraz Ahmed and Mickey Arthur with the trophy and wrote- “Wouldn’t you too?”
It is certainly a fact that the Indian fans would’ve celebrated the win in a similar manner if not bigger. So the guy finally had a look in the mirror.
