With women’s cricket evolving with every passing day, there is great anticipation about the tournament already. This is the first time that a Women’s cricket T20 World Cup will be conducted as a standalone tournament. The men’s tournament is scheduled to be played about six months later.
Australia will host the 7th edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup. The tournament will kick off on 21 February 2020 at the Sydney Showground Stadium. It will come to a close with the final on 8 March 2020 which also happens to be the International Women’s Day. The final will be hosted at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Hosts Australia will enter the tournament as the defending champions.
Moreover, for all the matches in this tournament, technology will be used to monitor the front-foot no-balls. The third umpire has been assigned the task of doing this and will communicate accordingly with the on-field umpires. Apart from them, Bangladesh and Thailand will be the other two teams taking part based on the performance in the Qualifier tournament. This will also be the first time ever that Thailand will be taking part in this prestigious event.
