2. KL Rahul
2018 was disastrous for KL and the England tour highlighted the weakness of Rahul against the moving ball and in the Australian conditions (where he was primed to succeed) didn’t help his cause either. Consequently, he was dropped from the squad owing to lackluster performances in the first two Tests. Ever since then, a few off-field controversies have kept the right-handed batsman from Karnataka out of the Indian limited overs squad.
Recently, playing for India A, Rahul regained some of his old form when he scored as many as 170 runs in two Tests. While confidence is the key to a player like Rahul, this year’s IPL might just be his and an in-form Rahul is as dangerous as Rohit Sharma. Rahul has probably earned one last chance to prove himself against the Australians, in-home conditions. This year’s IPL might also decide the fate of KL’s ticket to England.
