The New Zealand team had a very unfortunate World Cup, however, one of the main positives for them was the rise of Jimmy Neesham. Before the beginning of the World Cup, the all-rounder’s career had been more of a roller-coaster ride. Nonetheless, a fiery performance in the tournament has almost cemented his place in the squad.

Neesham scored a total of 232 runs at a strike rate of 98.97 and struck 15 wickets, which also included a fifer. The lad did well in the 3rd aspect of the game as well, as he became the 4th best fielder of the championship. The 29-year-old saved 28 runs with his wonderful fielding efforts in the 10 games he played. He saved a majority of these (18) while fielding inside the inner ring.

The Auckland-born cricketer also took 4 catches which helped his team in the long run. One of the best catches of this was the one of Dinesh Karthik in the Semis of the tournament. His scintillating efforts during the last few overs of the same match were one of the main reasons behind NZ’s triumph.
