The 2019 Cricket World Cup is just a month away and everybody is talking about it. The biggest question heading into the tournament is, who are the favourites? Experts, commentators, former cricketers, current cricketers, everyone seems to have an opinion on it. Ab de Villiers was the latest to join in the conversation and debate.

The former South African star is currently taking part in the Indian Premier League (IPL), playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He was at the launch of a limited-edition Mont Blanc luggage trolley where he spoke about the upcoming World Cup. He felt that he could count six teams which he felt that can win the World Cup.

SL, Afghanistan, WI, Ban to be eliminated?

“It is very difficult to pick a favourite; I think there are a lot of teams capable and that makes it a very open tournament. India have won the Champions Trophy in England, Pakistan won the last one there, Australia have won a lot of World Cups, England are their own team, New Zealand always do well at World Cups, South Africa have a very good bowling attack — that’s six teams already that I feel can win! I am simply looking forward to watching some amazing games through the tournament,” AB de Villiers was quoted saying by Sportstar.

Look back at my decision to retire with 100% satisfaction: AB de Villiers

Last year in May, AB de Villiers shocked the world when he announced his retirement from international cricket. He was at his peak and was dominating the bowlers. He still seems to be in great shape and is in great form. Hence, there have been calls for him to come out of retirement and play the World Cup. However, the 35-year-old said that he has no regrets after hanging his boots.

“I look back at my decision (to retire) last year with 100 per cent satisfaction. It would have been nice to play the World Cup again I am very happy where I am at the moment. There is no regret,” he mentioned.
