Points tally and the results might not show the whole picture of how well Bangladesh performed in the World Cup 2019 where they won three out of eight matches. They recorded a successful chase of the 322-run target in the tournament where only one other team managed to chase down the 250+ target. Shakib Al Hasan was the talk of the tournament as the all-rounder scored 40+ runs in all 8 innings and finished as the 3rd highest run-getter and also took 11 wickets including a 5-fer.

0 – Number of instances of a player scoring over 400 runs in a single edition of World Cup having picked up 10+ wickets before Shakib Al Hasan. The all-rounder ended up with 606 runs besides 11 wickets with the ball.


0 – Number of five-wicket hauls recorded for Bangladesh in the World Cup prior to this edition. They got a 5-fer in each of their last three matches in this tournament. Shakib Al Hasan got the first one against Afghanistan while Mustafizur Rahman took 5 wickets against India and Pakistan in the last two games.


20 – Mustafizur Rahman’s 20 wickets in this tournament are the most by any Bangladesh player in a single tournament/series in International cricket. Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed 19 wickets during the 2-match home Test series in 2016 against England.


189* – The unbeaten 189-run partnership between Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das against Windies is Bangladesh’s highest for any wicket in the World Cup. They surpassed the 142-run stand added by Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim against South Africa in their first game of the tournament. This is also the 2nd highest 4th wicket partnership in the World Cups. Michael Clarke and Brad Hodge shared 204 against the Netherlands in the 2007 edition.


322 – Bangladesh’s 322-run chase against Windies is the 2nd highest in the history of the World Cup. Ireland chased down 328 against England in Bangalore during the 2011 edition. It was also the highest successful chase in the ODI format for Bangladesh. They surpassed the 319-run chase against Scotland in the 2015 World Cup.

Bangladesh needed 41.3 overs to chase the target of 322; the 4th fewest overs taken by any team to chase a 300+ target in ODI cricket. It is also only the 2nd 250+ chase in the World Cups to be gunned down as early as 42nd over. India chased down the target of 260 against Ireland in 2015 in only 36.5 overs.


333/8 – The total of 333/8 by Bangladesh against Australia is their highest total in ODI cricket. They surpassed their total of 330/6 that came against South Africa in their first game of this tournament. Their highest ODI total before the CWC19 was 329/6 against Pakistan in the 2015 Dhaka ODI.


606 – Shakib Al Hasan finished the tournament with 606 runs from eight innings. No player before Shakib had even scored 400 runs in any International series/tournament for Bangladesh.


606 – All the 606 runs scored by Shakib in the tournament are while batting at No.3 position; the most by a non-opening batsman in a World Cup. Kane Williamson’s 578 runs in this tournament are the 2nd most runs by a non-opener in a World Cup. Mahela Jayawardene’s 548 runs in the 2007 CWC edition were the most by any player in a World Cup while batting at No.3 or lower position prior to CWC19.


1146 – Shakib Al Hasan became the first player from Bangladesh to score 1000 runs in the history of World Cup. Shakib also leads Bangladesh’s wicket-takers list at the CWC with 34 wickets from 29 games.
