ICC World Cup 2019: Imad Wasim requests Virat Kohli with ‘folded hands’ to get out

On Sunday, June 16, India and Pakistan locked horns in the World Cup at the Old Trafford in Manchester. Eventually, the Men in Blue, led by Virat Kohli, won by 89 runs (DLS Method). The Indian captain had every reason to cheer as, throughout the entire duration of the encounter, Kohli and Co didn’t give enough to the opposition, who looked helpless, to work with.

Even from a personal viewpoint, Kohli did an excellent job in the game. The 30-year-old notched 77 runs off 65 balls with the help of seven glorious boundaries. Initially, the right-handed batsman rotated the strike and didn’t go for any ambitious stroke.

Virat churns out yet another fifty

Even as Rohit played the big shots, Virat looked to get his eyes in and rotated the strike. Over the number of instances, he has shown great composure and he creamed the bowling with the utmost ease. He notched his half-century and also threatened to add some useful runs in the death overs. However, left-arm speedster Mohammad Amir accounted for his wicket in the 48th over.

In the meantime, while Kohli was weaving his magic in the middle, the situation got to Imad Wasim, the Pakistan left-arm spinner. The incident took place when the tweaker was bowling and Kohli set off for a single. While Virat was nearing the non-striker’s end, Imad was seen folding his hands and pleading Virat to get out. Kohli thereafter looked at the bowler and said something.

As far as Imad is concerned, he isn’t someone who prefers to turn the leather. Rather, he darts the ball into the batsman’s feet in order to stop the run-flow. He played the first match of the World Cup against the Windies but didn’t get a chance to bowl. Moreover, the 30-year-old failed with the bat.

Subsequently, he was dropped from the next two encounters of the mega event. Against India, he bowled well, conceding only 49 runs, albeit he couldn’t get a wicket. During the run-chase, he came in and scored a quickfire 46 off 39 balls with six fours, though the knock came in a losing cause.
