ICC World Cup 2019: Match 12, England vs Bangladesh, Match Prediction – Weather Report, Pitch Conditions, Playing XIs and Live Streaming Details
The Tigers have a 2-1 lead versus England in the World Cup tournaments.
Both Bangladesh and England have made rather similar starts to the World Cup. However, the Three Lions are placed above the Tigers on account of having a superior Net Run Rate. After a 104-run victory against South Africa, the Brits slumped to a 14-run loss at the hands of Pakistan in Nottingham. The Tigers also started well, rolling over the Proteas by 21 runs at the Kennington Oval in London.
They fought hard but couldn’t quite get over the line against New Zealand, losing by three wickets. Bangladesh and England are now set to cross swords at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. The Tigers came out trumps the last two times these two teams met in the mega event in 2011 and 2015 respectively. Even their game in 2007 was a close one and a cracker of a contest can be expected on Saturday.
Weather Report
There are chances of heavy downpour from the morning at 9 AM to the evening at 7 PM. The conditions are expected to be overcast with a cloud cover mostly in the 70s. The sun may not make its way out. The temperature will be around 13 degrees Celsius. The humidity will be in the 60s and 70s.
Pitch Report
Only seven out of 22 matches at this venue were won by the team, batting first. Hence, teams may opt to field first after winning the toss also because the DLS Method may come into play if there are rain interruptions. The leather is expected to jag around like the previous time when Nuwan Pradeep dictated terms to the Afghanistan batsmen.
Playing combinations
England
The Three Lions will bring back Liam Plunkett, who was replaced by Mark Wood. Plunkett may come in place of Adil Rashid, who may not have a role to play under gloomy conditions. Wood picked up a couple of wickets versus Pakistan, giving 53 and it’s unlikely that he will be dropped from the eleven. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow will again be key for the Brits to get a good start.
Morgan strained to play the Pakistan spinners and he’ll have his task out versus the Tigers. Moeen Ali has done well with the ball, but his form with the bat is turning out to be a matter of concern. Speedster Jofra Archer will also want to make amends after leaking 79 runs last time around.
Probable XI
Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (C), Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (WK), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid/Liam Plunkett, Mark Wood.
Bangladesh
The Tigers may give Sabbir Rahman a chance in place of Mohammad Mithun, who hasn’t looked at his very best thus far. Furthermore, Sabbir is a part-time bowling option as well. Southpaw Tamim Iqbal has been a tad jittery after returning from his wrist injury and he’ll be desperate to get a substantial score. Mushfiqur Rahim will also want to do well after an off-day last time around.
It goes without Shakib Al Hasan needs to remain at his very best in order for Bangladesh to win the match. Mahmudullah will play an important role as well. Mosaddek Hossain has been a massive positive for them. Mustafizur Rahman had a rough day versus the Kiwis and he’ll be looking to find his rhythm.
Probable XI
Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mohammad Mithun/Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman
Probable Top Performer
Jason Roy – England | Shakib Al Hasan – Bangladesh
