The hosts England will be in action on Friday after a significant five-day break in the World Cup 2019. After thrashing Bangladesh by 106 runs in their previous game, their next challenge is facing the Windies. By no means, they can take the Caribbeans lightly if the recent results are any indication. Windies pacers have been wreaking havoc and England’s batsmen should be careful facing the bouncers.
Also, the five-match series between the two sides earlier this year ended in a draw (2-2) with the Jason Holder-led side punching above its weight. As far as the team combination is concerned, England look set to drop either of Chris Woakes or Liam Plunkett to accommodate Moeen Ali in the side.
Woakes looks the likeliest candidate to make way at the moment. For Windies, Andre Russell is expected to be fit though he didn’t train with the team on Wednesday. If he is fit, Darren Bravo might get dropped from the XI.

Weather Report
Nothing encouraging to report about England weather in the last few days. There is a 56% chance of rain at 10 AM after which it is expected to be partly sunny. Having said that, amidst the sunshine, the rain gods might make their presence felt around 2 PM according to AccuWeather. If it actually rains, we might still have a shortened game as the forecast is much better later in the day. The temperature will hover around 15-16 Degrees Celsius for the whole day.
Pitch Report
India and South Africa played at this venue last week and it was a tricky pitch for the batsmen. India took around 48 overs to chase down 228. The washed out game between South Africa and West Indies also saw the ball moving significantly during the 7.3 overs of action. Fast bowlers will have fun on the pitch if the overcast conditions welcome both the sides. Also, the pitch might turn later in the day if the sun is out.
Average first innings score: 254 (Last three completed One-Day matches at the venue (2 warm-ups and 1 World Cup match)
