ICC World Cup 2019: Match 20, Sri Lanka vs Australia: Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy
Here is the guide to select the Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy.
Barring their loss to India at the Kennington Oval in London, Australia have been methodical in their approach. The Aaron Finch-captained team is placed second in the points table with three victories from four matches. Furthermore, all of their victories were pretty comprehensive. Last time around, the Aussies brushed aside Pakistan in Taunton after an almighty scare from the likes of Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz.
Their next match is against Sri Lanka at the Oval and there’s very little doubt that they are the front-runners for the game. The Aussies have lost only one match against Lankans in the World Cup, their last defeat coming way back in 1996 when Sri Lanka won the Cup. The Islanders are currently in the fifth position on the table with four points from as many games. Their last two matches were called off due to rain.
Here is the guide to select the Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy:
Captain Suggestions:
David Warner
As the World Cup has gone along, David Warner has gained momentum. In fact, he is currently the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament with 255 runs at an average of 85. After a couple of cautious half-centuries versus Afghanistan and India, the southpaw delivered the killer punch against Pakistan and churned out a match-winning century. He’ll be key in the next game as well.

Kusal Mendis
The 24-year-old Kusal Mendis is one of Lanka’s most consistent players. But the ongoing mega event hasn’t gone well for the right-hander. He bagged a duck versus the Black Caps and then could only manage a couple against the Afghans. In 65 ODIs, Mendis averages a mere 27.77 and the numbers don’t do justice to the potential he has. He’ll need to find his feet at the earliest.

Aaron Finch
The 32-year-old Aaron Finch has scored 190 runs at an average of 47.5. With a couple of fifties and a strike-rate of 106.74, he has looked in full flow. He doesn’t mind playing the attacking strokes and the approach has paid dividends as well. The kind of form he has shown, the Victorian also has the chance of going to the top of the ladder in the top run-scorers list.

Steve Smith
Steve Smith has been in red hot form in the World Cup, scoring 170 runs in four matches. It was only in the last match that he floundered as Mohammad Hafeez nipped him out. He is a kind of player, who doesn’t lose his cool in pressure situations and he showed the same during the game versus the Windies. His services may again be needed if the Aussies lose a few early wickets.

Pat Cummins
The 26-year-old Pat Cummins is currently the leading wicket-taker in ODIs in 2019 with 26 wickets. Rarely does it happen that the speedster goes wicketless. He has nine wickets in the World Cup from four matches. Even in the last match, the speedster stepped up when Australia needed to make breakthroughs. He’ll need to step up in the next match as well.

Kusal Perera
The southpaw is Lanka’s top run-scorer in the mega event with 107 runs in two matches. He has scored those runs at an average of 53.50 and a strike-rate of 101.90. He batted in the middle-order in the first match and played a cameo. In the next game, he opened the batting and scored 78 runs amidst a shambolic batting show against the Afghans. His role will be key even next time.
