The Windies started the 2019 World Cup with a thunderous seven-wicket victory against Pakistan. However, the Jason Holder-captained unit lost against Australia and England. Moreover, one of their games versus South Africa was called off and currently, the Caribbean team is placed sixth in the points table with three points from four matches. Their next match is against Bangladesh in Taunton.

A few days ago, Windies lost three matches in succession in Ireland versus the same opposition. The Tigers also won a couple of bilateral ODI series against the Windies in the last one year. As far as the World Cup is concerned, Mashrafe Mortaza & Co rolled over the Proteas to start their journey but now languish in the eight position after defeats at the hands of New Zealand and England respectively.

Weather Report

Fortunately for the players as well as the fans, there isn’t much chance of rain forecast for tomorrow’s game. A significant amount of cloud cover will be there though. The atmosphere will be nice and cool with the temperature expected to be between 16 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius. The humidity will be on the higher side but will come down as the match progresses.

Pitch Report

In both the games at this venue, the pitch didn’t change much during the course of the game. The pitch hasn’t had any demons for the batsmen to worry about. Teams batting second have been at ease and shot-making won’t be a difficult task. Both Bangladesh and the Windies have a power-packed batting lineup and they might wish to field first after winning the toss.

Playing combinations

Windies

The Caribbean team may not make any changes to their eleven. Andre Russell has had his problems with his knee, but he is likely to make the cut. Evin Lewis was awful in the first two matches and he’ll be looking to make amends. Chris Gayle needs to convert his starts. Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer also need to understand the importance of carrying on and getting a big score under their belt.

Skipper Holder is in decent form and he’ll need to lead from the front. Even an injured Russell holds the key. Carlos Brathwaite needs to pull up his socks at the earliest. In the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Sheldon Cottrell and Oshane Thomas to get the early breakthroughs. Shannon Gabriel was expensive versus the Brits and he’ll play an important role as well.

Probable XI

Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Shai Hope (wk), Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder (C), Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Oshane Thomas, Shannon Gabriel, Sheldon Cottrell

Bangladesh

The Tigers are persisting with Mohammad Mithun and he may be replaced by Sabbir Rahman. Mohammad Saifuddin has succumbed when put under pressure. Bangladesh may want to field the experienced Rubel Hossain. Mushfiqur Rahim copped a blow on his forearm in the nets off Mustafizur Rahman, but his injury may not be too serious as per the team management.

Tamim Iqbal has got the runs in bits and pieces and needs to get in full flow. The focus will again be on how the dynamic Shakib Al Hasan steps up and deliver the goods. Mahmudullah and Mosaddek Hossain will have their roles to play as well lower down the order. Mashrafe Mortaza hasn’t had the best of World Cups with the ball. The team will also look up to Mustafizur Rahman to step up.

Probable XI

Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mohammad Mithun/Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin/Rubel Hossain, Mehdiy Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza (C), Mustafizur Rahman

Probable Top Performer

Chris Gayle – Windies| Shakib Al Hasan – Bangladesh
