New Zealand started the 2019 World Cup on a grand note, winning three matches in a row. The victories were also resounding enough to give them a Net Run Rate of +2.163. Unfortunately, their last match against India at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham got abandoned due to frequent showers. Placed second in the table, the Black Caps are next scheduled to play South Africa at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

A victory will help them regain the top spot. The Proteas, on the other hand, haven’t looked the most formidable by any means. After remaining winless in their first four games, Faf du Plessis and Co brushed aside Afghanistan by nine wickets (DLS Method) at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. However, the fact that their premier pacer Lungi Ngidi has been declared fit to play will give them a lot of confidence.

Here is the guide to select the Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy:

Captain Suggestions:

Hashim Amla

Hashim Amla hasn’t had the best of World Cups thus far by any stretch of the imagination. The Durban-born veteran has scored only 66 runs in four matches at an average of 22.41 of those 41* runs came in the last game versus the Afghans. His abysmal strike-rate of 54.09 is also a matter of concern. In order for the Proteas to make a comeback, Amla has to gain his rhythm back. However, he is too good a player to not be able to make a comeback and when he does return to form it will be in grand fashion. This is a great opportunity for him to do that.

Ross Taylor

Ross Taylor has by far looked the most fluent batsman for the Black Caps in the mega event. In the two matches, he has batted in, the 35-year-old has scored 82 and 48 respectively. Over the last 12 months, he has performed exceptionally and is currently a stalwart in his team’s batting lineup. Taylor needs to carry on with his form in order for New Zealand to keep dictating terms.

Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson has scored 119 runs in the World Cup at an average of 119. But, he hasn’t set the stage ablaze thus far as his strike-rate at 69.59 is pretty low. He has shown incredible levels of consistency in the format but needs to accelerate in order to give his team the momentum. He has to be on top of his game against a strong South African bowling attack.

Vice-Captain Suggestions:

Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis is a fulcrum of the Proteas batting lineup, but in the ongoing tournament, he has been a tad indifferent. He scored 62 against Bangladesh and could only manage 43 runs other than that. The South African batting lineup hasn’t looked at its very best and Faf needs to inspire the team. He has been a bit rusty while playing the spinners, something he’ll wish to work upon.

Colin Munro

Colin Munro isn’t a regular member of the New Zealand ODI team as he often throws it away after playing erratic strokes. The southpaw notched an unbeaten 58 versus the Lankans. However, versus Bangladesh and Afghanistan, he couldn’t convert his starts after scoring 24 and 22. The 32-year-old needs to be a bit cautious with his shot-selection in order to play a knock of substance.

Andile Phehlukwayo

The 23-year-old Andile Phehlukwayo has been the Proteas’ most formidable all-rounder in the mega event. He has got runs lower down the order after his team lost a flurry of wickets in the middle. Furthermore, he has six wickets with best figures of 2/18 against Afghanistan. Phehlukwayo is also South Africa’s most economical bowler in the tournament with an economy rate of 4.46
