From registering his highest ODI score against Windies in their previous World Cup meeting to getting dismissed for a golden duck, Martin Guptill has now seen perhaps everything in his cricketing life. It wasn’t his day with the bat.

Colin Munro – 1/10

It is getting further more disappointing for the dashing southpaw, who has been very poor this tournament. Colin Munro too was dismissed for a golden duck and also dropped a catch off Chris Gayle at mid-wicket. The management will be considering other alternate options to open alongside Guptill now.

Kane Williamson – 10/10

This was nothing short of a perfect performance from skipper Kane Williamson. He played one of the finest knocks of his career and was pretty sharp with his bowling changes in the second innings. From defending his way out to hitting the fifth gear, Williamson’s 148 off 154 balls had every aspect covered with surgical precision.

Ross Taylor – 8/10

He could’ve made this a huge knock, but Ross Taylor had to settle for a 95-ball 69. His experience and temperament were some of the main reasons why the Kiwis got into such a good position with the bat despite losing those early wickets. Getting dismissed off a part-timer is no great feeling and it ended a wonderful inning on a somber note.

Tom Latham – 3/10

For some reason, Tom Latham is struggling to find his feet in England. He is one of the most technically astute batsmen in their lineup and is yet to register a considerable good score in the tournament. He could only muster 12 runs and was dismissed by Sheldon Cottrell. However, he was superb ehind the wickets and should be credited for that.

James Neesham – 4/10

Came out to bat in a critical position and played a good second-fiddle to Kane Williamson. He scored 28 runs off 23 balls, which included a six and a four. He wasn’t finding his rhythm with the ball but did the job in the end for his skipper by bowling an exceptional penultimate over of the innings and won the am for his team.

Colin de Grandhomme – 6/10

Colin de Grandhomme is proving to be a great asset for the side, contributing his best to the side in the little time he gets. He smashed a 6-ball 16 with the bat before Cottrell ran him out. Most importantly, he dismissed the big fish Chris Gayle with the ball and provided the crucial killer-blow.

Trent Boult – 9/10

Outstanding performance once again from their main man. Trent Boult gave them a great start early on and continued his good work in the middle overs, chipping away crucial wickets. He returned with figures of 4/30 in 9 overs and currently has 8 wickets to his name in the tournament. Also full marks to the match-winning catch, where he really had to hold his nerve and time his move to perfection.

Matt Henry – 2/10

Had a very poor outing with the ball, kept banging it short and suffered the consequences for being too predictable. He also dropped an absolute sitter at square leg off Chris Gayle, which could’ve proved very costly for his side. His 48th over cost 25 runs and almost saw the Windies through.

Mitchell Santner – 2/10

Mitchell Santner is usually known for his canny bowling against left-handers, but Chris Gayle and Hetmyer really got hold of him on the day. He never looked threatening with the ball and also gave away too many runs. A forgettable day for the talented all-rounder.

Lockie Ferguson – 8/10

This could’ve been a seven, but one extra point for turning the tide in New Zealand’s favour with those two huge wickets of Shimron Hetmyer and Jason Holder. His pace kept threatening the Windies although they did get hold of for a while. But the pace bowler kept coming back to end with three wickets in the end.
