Pakistan and South Africa will face-off in match 30 of the ongoing World Cup on Sunday. Both the teams are under the scanner for their performance in the tournament so far. While the Proteas have been more or less knocked out of the tournament, the Men in Green need to win every match here on to have a chance of going through to the semis. This is also the first match of the tournament at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s.

In terms of team combination, Shoaib Malik looks set to make way for Haris Sohail after bagging a golden duck. Hasan Ali is also not performing according to the expectations and Mohammad Hasnain could play his first World Cup match. The pitch at Lord’s might be on the slower side and Pakistan are likely to play with both the spinners again. South Africa will also be tempted to bring in Tabraiz Shamsi but might go in with the same XI.

Weather Report

It will be partly cloudy for the whole day on Sunday in London. There is a slight chance of rain during the match which shouldn’t concern the teams. The temperature will hover around 19-23 degrees Celsius according to AccuWeather.

Pitch Report

This is the first match at the venue and if the domestic One-Day Cup is concerned, the pitch was a decent one for batting. This being the first game, the surface could be a good one for batting and if the sun comes out, the spinners might enjoy as well. The team winning the toss should opt to field as it is likely to be cloudy and the ball will swing early on.

Average first innings score: 257 (Six domestic One-Day matches at the venue this year)

Mohammad Amir could be made vice-captain as he is taking wickets consistently and bowls in the death overs as well.

If the sun is out, better have one of the Pakistan spinners in the team, preferably Shadab Khan, as South Africa struggle playing spin bowling.

Probable Winners:

It is tough to predict the winner here but Pakistan should manage to get the better of South Africa.
